Tya Alsop was born in Silver Spring, Maryland and moved to Atlanta was she was five years old. During the beginning of her dance career she was a company member at the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance where she took classes in ballet, pointe, acro, tap and jazz. To further her knowledge in dance Tya relocated her self to the Metropolitan Ballet Theater under the direction of Maniya Barrado, the prima ballerina of Atlanta. She was a member of this company until she reached high school.
During her high school years Tya became a company member of Dance Arts Centre under the direction of Jeff Boss and Jaime Wardrop where she danced in many dance competitions across many states. After graduating, she was accepted into the Dance program at Brenau University. During her four years in college she was a member for two years of the Brenau Dance Ensemble after the guidance of Jolie Long. She also performed and choreographed in many student and faculty concerts.
After graduating from college with a degree in Dance Pedagogy, she became a cast member for the Walt Disney World Company and became a performer and danced in seasonal parades for Halloween and Christmas. She is still currently a cast member for the Walt Disney World.
Tya has a deep and great love for teaching and dancing. Now she wants to explore her knowledge and experience with the young children that are wanting to become dancers. She is also very blessed and excited to be a current faculty member at the Dance Centers of Orlando.
