Our junior classes are generally for dancers from 7-11 yrs old, and our teen classes are for dancers 12 and up. This, of course, is only a guideline, and placement will be determined with their first class.  We also so have mini classes for students 3-6 and adult classes.

  2. What training, how many years of training has your child had, and where did they dance before?
  3. Is this their first experience in a dance studio?

Class Descriptions

ALL Classes determined by placement

Ballet - is the classical dance form that is the technical base for most other dance forms. Classes focus on overall core body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs, execution of turnout, and carriage and usage of arms. Traditional barre work, center work and combinations are included.

Jazz - An exciting and ever evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion and life. Classes explore body isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, feet and arms and encourage individual expression and the development of personal style.

Jazz can be powerful and percussive or expressive and lyrical. Classes teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology and movement quality.

Lyrical - is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques.

Modern - is a contemporary dance form that is rooted in ballet. It emphasizes the use of the floor for centering and grounding oneself in movement. In this class the breath (inhale/exhale), over-curve and under-curve, contraction/release, musicality and rhythm are explored. Teachers incorporate an eclectic blend of contemporary and post-modern movement into their classes.

Modern Fusion - combination of jazz, lyrical, modern, and contemporary styles.

Tap - Strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer's feet. Rhythm tap and Broadway styles will be executed. Sounds are made not only with the bottom of the shoe, but also with the back, sides, and tip.

Hip Hop - A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music. Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin', locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.

Musical Theaterr - genre that uses song, music, and dance as an integral part of the play's action; it is not usually as elevated as opera or even operetta.

Partnering - the dances whose basic choreography involves coordinated dancing of two partners.

Acrobatics or Tumbling - The gymnastic moves of an acrobat.

Voice - is for students who enjoy singing & wish to improve their vocal technique regardless of ability: breathing, support, phrasing, diction, intonation & tone quality

Acting - when a person tells the story by portraying a character and usually, speaking or singing the written text or play.

Improvisational Acting - is a form of theatre in which the actors perform spontaneously. Actors typically create dialogue, setting, and plot extemporaneously. The basic skills of listening, clarity, confidence, and performing instinctively and spontaneously are considered important skills for actors to develop.

Seminar - topics will consists of dance history, audition requirements, dancing in college and for a living, class etiquette, dance vocabulary, ballets and musicals Ballet- a classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborates formal gestures, steps, and poses. 

Creative Movement - Class encourages free expression, while teaching basic elements of dance, including rhythm, movement quality, space, body awareness and shape. The child's imagination and self-esteem are encouraged and strengthened through dance..

Movie Musical Contest - is a deep exploration of the history of a movie musical, understanding style, characters, songs, actors, and more. We will keep this fun and light with a contest of questions to keep everyone engaged. When the movie is complete, we will have an improve contest for best interpretation of a character or dance from the musical. Prizes will be awarded for all contests.

Choreography recap & presentation - is a chance to perform in front of everyone anything and everything they learned through the week.

Video Recap - is a chance to watch a video of their dance/performances from that week.
