Policies
Evaluation: Every student will be evaluated on an individual basis.
They will be placed in classes most appropriate for them. We do this to assure
they will have the greatest growth and remain injury-free. OUR FIRST CONCERN IS
YOUR CHILD. Their longevity as a dancer will also improve with proper placement.
Our primary goal is to give them a true education in dance. At the same time, we
know how important school is and we promote good grades to insure our students
have well-rounded futures.
Homework Support: All DCO COMPANY
STUDENTS are entitled to Homework Support from ONE-on-ONE, Educational Services
where all tutors are experienced, degreed teachers. Private and semi-private
academic tutoring is offered to DCO students at a discounted rate. For more
information, please ask for details regarding, Tutoring, Remedial Counseling and
Enrichment
Dress Code: Hair must be secured
completely away from the face in all classes. For ballet and a few other
required classes, hair must be secured tightly to the head in a bun, French
twist, or knot. Water, hairspray, gel, clips, and/or bobby pins are encouraged
and required to control fly-a-way or strands of hair that tend to get loose.
Specific dress codes for each class will be listed under the class
descriptions... For now, any black leotard, tights (pink for ballet, tan
for other classes) and appropriate shoes for classes are required.
Class Conduct: We definitely promote
healthy fun, even with our group of serious dancers. Yet, the classroom is not
the place to goof around. Students are expected to arrive to the studio in
proper time to be dressed, focused, and ready to start class at the beginning of
the scheduled time. Students must ask permission from the teacher to enter a
classroom if arriving late, any time after the initial start of the class. Phone
calls are requested for any student who will be tardy or absent.
Respect: It is of utmost importance
that we respect everyone at the Dance Centers of Orlando, teachers, students,
parents, staff, and visitors. Everyone is welcome.
Class Start Times: Based on the scheduled
time, all classes will run a COMPLETE 55 or 85 minutes. There is a 5 minute
break between classes, both for the students and the teachers. We ask that you
do not impose upon a teacher's personal time; but rather schedule a conference
or leave a note in their box, and they will get back with you.
